How involvement works

Involvement through the haPPIE Research Group is always structured and supported.

Opportunities may include:

  • attending online or in-person focus groups

  • taking part in individual interviews to share lived experience

  • reviewing information, resources, or tools

  • advising on how services or research are designed and delivered

  • supporting evaluation and learning activities

All opportunities are clearly explained in advance, including what is involved, how long it will take, and what support is available.

How we work safely and ethically

Care sits at the centre of everything we do.

The haPPIE Research Group operates within clear governance, safeguarding, and ethical frameworks.

This includes:

  • clear boundaries around roles and expectations

  • informed consent for all involvement

  • confidentiality and data protection

  • support before, during, and after involvement

  • the right to step back at any time

No one is expected to share more than they feel comfortable with.

Involvement should never cause harm.

How this connects to haPPIE™Academy

haPPIE Academy focuses on learning, community projects, and supported volunteering.

The haPPIE Research Group builds on this foundation by offering structured involvement in research, evaluation, and service design for those who choose to take that step.

You do not need to be part of the Research Group to be a valued member of haPPIE Academy.

Progression is optional and led by you.
