What to Keep in Mind About Payments

State Benefits

If you're receiving benefits, we'll give you clear info about how to
report payments. We can provide written explanations for DWP but can’t give
personal advice.

2

Tax & NI

In most cases, tax or National Insurance may apply. One-off payments are often treated as gifts and may not be taxed—but check if it affects your benefits.

3

Employment Law

Regular involvement might make you eligible for workers rights. One-off input usually doesn’t.

Recognition Beyond Payment

Not everyone wants to be paid. If you prefer, we can offer:

● Thank-you letters or certificates
● Digital badges
● Training and skills support
● Help updating your CV
● Networking and learning opportunities

Principles We Follow

Choice – You decide if you want to be paid or not
Equity – You’ll be treated fairly and paid in line with others doing similar work
Clarity – We’ll be open about how payments are made and what’s required

We make sure all our payment systems are inclusive and respectful—so you can focus on sharing your voice without unnecessary barriers.
